I’m really proud of some big magnets I designed and made. Have you ever done the experiment in your science lessons where you take an iron nail and wrap a wire round it, then put current through the wire? This makes an ‘electromagnet’: a magnet that you can turn on and off (rather than a ‘permanent’ magnet, like you put on the fridge). Well the things I’ve designed are big fancy electromagnets. I’ve put a picture on my profile for you under the ‘me and my work’ section. I like them because they’re very powerful but really slim: they don’t take up much space.

I had to do lots of computer simulations to get them so slim. I also had to do some mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) to see how it all fit together. I then worked with the manufacturers to check it was possible to build.

      Thanks for the question!
