Data analysis searching for the Higgs boson to understand why elementary particles have mass, without which we wouldn’t exist.

This may sound weird coming from an astrophysicist, but I found quantum mechanics, the study of really small stuff (like electrons), absolutely fascinating during my degree.

Machine learning is also really cool, I’m learning about that at the moment (I’m literally taking a break from that to answer you 🙂 )

Everything I do at work with particle beams and plasmas is interesting, but I really enjoyed learning about stars at university. It’s fascinating how a simple cloud of gas floating in space can turn into a fantastically complicated star just by adding gravity!
