Hello Liam. We actually saw two black holes collide a couple of weeks ago for the very first time! This was a super exciting discovery. What happens is that the black holes spiral around each other like water going down a drain and as they do so, they make space itself ripple like water. We felt those ripples all the way here on Earth! When the black holes touch, they actually combine into one big black hole. We think this may have happened a lot in the past as there are some black holes so big they would swallow up our solar system! They must have formed from lots of little black holes colliding.
