      I do think that we come from a common cousin that we have with apes

      Yes. Tiny mouse-like mammals were around at the same time as dinosaurs. When the dinosaurs died, there was more room for the mice so they quickly got bigger, evolving into cats, horses and apes and everything in between. Some apes learnt how to use tools and evolved further into early human-like creatures. They then got smarter and learnt to hunt, farm and make fire. From there it’s not too difficult to see where we came from 🙂
