Luckily nope, as far as we know, there aren’t any black holes around here. There’s probably a big one at the centre of the galaxy, but that’s too far away to cause us any worry.

You’re right actually. Normally the stars orbit the central black hole perfectly happily. Some even get very close indeed. But recently, astronomers watched a big cloud of gas get sucked in which was pretty exciting!
Black holes aren’t really all that dangerous… unless you get too close. For example, if the Sun turned into a black hole now (not that this cannot and never will happen!) the Earth would keep on spinning perfectly happily where it is: we wouldn’t all be sucked in! Obviously it would quickly get cold here, though 🙂
