Scientists around the world publish 100s of articles every single day. As a community we read these articles and apply the relevant stuff to our own work. Scientists solve small problems everyday, and usually it’s when we’ve solved A LOT of small problems that we’re ready to tackle the big ones you hear about in the news
It’s a back-and-forth relationship. Scientific discoveries often lead to things that improve our lives (like the telephone, the television, batteries, aeroplanes etc etc). On the other hand, the general public have things we want to be better, so we ask the scientists to find ways to solve those problems (things like climate change, energy, food-shortage…).
So we adapt to what science gives us, and science adapts to what we need! 😎
You do not realise it but everyday there is something new scientific. Think about smartphones, a few years ago they were incredible to believe that a phone could do all these things!
